There is nothing more powerful than the human spirit
Volliecare is dedicated to providing patients, visitors and staff in the Southern Health Community with professional care and support.
Volliecare volunteers carry out many valuable services across Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Hospital, the Repat Health Precinct and the greater Southern Health Community.
All proceeds raised, help to improve facilities, patient care, as well as support medical research and Patient Care Projects achieved through financial donations.
Voliecare offers pathways to employment, helping volunteers to develop their skills such as time management, teamwork, communication, and leadership.
The strong partnership between staff and volunteers adds warmth to the hospital culture and provides an extra dimension in patient care. When you volunteer, you are making a commitment to share that most precious of resources – your time.

The Human Touch
VollieCare nurture and inspire; one person, one family, one community at a time.
Volunteers are high achievers
It is acknowledged that the strong partnership between staff and volunteers adds warmth to the hospital culture and provides an extra dimension to patient care.
Our unique organisation is widely admired throughout Australia and overseas for the diversity, standard of service and the millions of dollars raised to improve both physical and professional facilities within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network.
An Australian Hospital Standards Accreditation Team has described our organisation as “probably the most impressive service seen by the team, deserving the highest commendation.”

Patient Care Projects
Updating our core values and operating within a rapidly changing healthcare system helped us to identify where urgent needs for patient care and support are; useful, everyday care services that are designed to improve the consumer experience whilst in hospital care. VollieCare currently provides or supports the following Patient Care projects across SALHN:
Nurture Boxes
Nurture Boxes/Packs are given to patients, carers and families who are Palliative. The items in this pack have been carefully selected to provide nurture and support during a difficult time.
Activity Boxes
Activity boxes are designed to keep patients' minds active during a long stay, journey or treatment in the hospital by giving them a thoughtful comforting gift put together by volunteers.
Toiletry Packs
Toiletry packs are currently donated to Tobruk, Ward 18V, RNBU and BAS as needed. The toiletry packs generally contain the following items but are tailored by the wards to support needs.
Hospitality Trolley
The VollieCare Hospitality Trolley provides care and support to bedside families and children in the Paediatric and Neonatal Wards. The trolley delivers activities and refreshments free of charge.
Mastectomy Bags
Drain bags are worn over the shoulder to carry surgical drains following a mastectomy. It is common for individuals to be sent home with drains; these are sometimes in place for up to 2 weeks.
Sensory Blankets
Sensory Blankets provide a soothing and stimulating activity for people living with dementia or recovering from strokes. It keeps hands occupied to manipulate and provides sensory stimulation.
